Admissions

At Emerald Academy, our admissions process is designed to be clear, structured, and supportive. We want families to understand what is required, what to expect, and what the next step is at every stage. Whether you are applying for full-time placement or seeking guidance on entry requirements, our aim is to make the process organised, professional, and easy to follow. Emerald Academy operates a digital-first admissions system, and all applications are completed online, with support available for parents who may need help submitting through the portal.

Admissions Overview

Admissions at Emerald Academy are not handled casually or informally. Our process follows a defined workflow so that every step is traceable, every stage has an owner, and parents are kept informed throughout. Internally, admissions move through application submission, review, assessment preparation, scheduling, assessment, academic evaluation, offer communication, and registration. This structure helps us maintain professionalism, clarity, and consistency for every family.

This means that once an application is submitted, it is reviewed, the learner is guided through any required assessment, and the family is then informed of the outcome and next steps. Our goal is not only to admit learners, but to do so through a process that reflects the standards of the institution.

How to Apply

All Emerald Academy applications are completed online. Parents may still visit the admin office for help gathering documents or submitting through the system, but the application itself remains online. This helps ensure that records are captured properly, the process remains traceable, and the learner can move through the admissions workflow in an organised way.

Application steps

Step 1: Submit the online application

Complete the application form through our admissions portal and upload the required documents.

Step 2: Initial review

Your application is checked for completeness, and the next steps are communicated. Emerald’s internal standard is that applications should receive a response within one working day..

Step 3: Assessment stage

Where required, the learner is scheduled for an entrance assessment after academic readiness has been confirmed.

Step 4: Academic review and feedback

Assessment results are reviewed to help determine learner needs, placement, and suitability. Emerald’s handbook sets 1–2 working days for marking and feedback internally.

Step 5: Admission offer

If the learner is accepted, the school communicates the offer and next steps.

Step 6: Registration / enrolment

Registration is completed through the required admissions and finance steps, including payment obligations tied to enrolment

Admission Requirements

Requirements vary depending on the programme, but for the main website the most important pathway is Full-time Professional Homeschool. The items below reflect the standard requirements for that route. Emerald’s FAQ also provides separate requirements for part-time tutoring and supplementing, but those services are secondary on this site.

Full-time Professional Homeschool

Required items:

  • Completed online registration form

  • Non-refundable application fee of P250

  • Proof of ability to pay school fees

  • Copy of the learner’s birth certificate

  • Copies of the two latest school reports for transfers

  • Certified copy of the parent or guardian’s ID

Important admission notes
  • Applications are completed online

  • Parents may visit the admin office for help submitting the application online

  • Most learners are required to sit for an entrance assessment

  • Learners should bring their books along during the admissions process

  • Rolling admissions are available, though application activity is usually highest toward the end of each term and during school closure periods

Entry limitations

Entry is subject to grade availability, institutional criteria, and admissions policy. Some final-stage entry points may not be open for full intake placement.

Entrance Assessment

Most new applicants are required to complete a short academic assessment. The purpose of the assessment is not to intimidate families, but to help us understand the learner’s current level, identify support needs, and make a suitable placement decision. Emerald’s FAQ confirms that assessments help determine learning needs and placement level.

Assessments are a normal part of the admissions process, but there are exceptions. Based on your current direction, entrance assessments are generally compulsory except for Form 1 applicants with PSLE results. Families should also come prepared with the learner’s books where requested, as this helps the school review academic readiness more accurately.

Internally, Emerald’s handbook shows that assessments are only scheduled after academic readiness is confirmed and are then followed by marking, evaluation, and placement recommendation. This reinforces the seriousness and structure of the process.

What parents should expect

  • Assessment scheduling after application review

  • A short academic check suited to the learner’s level

  • Clear feedback after review

  • Placement guidance based on results and available space

Fees & Payment Plans

Fees vary depending on the programme and grade level, and Emerald Academy makes fee information available both publicly and through downloadable materials. For the admissions stage, the most immediate fee requirement is the non-refundable P250 application fee. Enrolment is then completed through the relevant fee and registration steps.

Emerald also offers flexible payment plans for qualifying parents, and discounts may apply in cases such as early full payment or families with more than one child enrolled. Payment plans are not treated casually or verbally. The handbook makes it clear that instalment arrangements must be formally recorded, and no applicant is treated as fully enrolled until the required admissions and finance steps are complete.

How parents can pay
  • Bank deposit or transfer

  • POS / card payments at the school

  • Other approved channels where applicable

Proof of payment

Once payment is made, proof of payment should be sent using the correct finance channel. Your confirmed public channels include:

Balances are visible through the ERP parent or student portal, and that if payments fall behind, access to reports, academic content, and the ERP may be restricted.
